The inaugural Slee Blackwell Solicitors Croquet Tournament was held at Taunton Vale Croquet Club on 3 September 2015.
10 teams of local professionals gathered at the Taunton Vale club, to do battle for the gleaming team trophy and for individual glory in the ‘Crazy Croquet’ competition.
Rivalry among Taunton’s professionals was fierce. Fortunately, no mallets were raised in anger, but there were heated discussions about the interpretation of the rules of croquet!
Our lawyers displayed their culinary skills with a mouth-watering barbecue and plentiful liquid refreshments kept Taunton’s elite sports men and women refuelled. The weather was kind to us and volunteers from Taunton Vale Croquet Club provided invaluable technical support.
It was all in aid of Conquest Disabled Riding Centre which is a charity local to our offices on the Bindon Road Business Park in Taunton. Conquest do so much great work for riders of all age ranges and disabilities. It is their 50th anniversary so we were particularly proud to support them on this occasion.
The tournament was won by Taunton estate agents, Greenslade Taylor Hunt. Their team, comprising Martyn Venner and Graeme Biffen, beat off competition from “The Bashers”, otherwise known as accountants Milsted Langdon.
Martyn Venner displayed his total mastery of the game by walking off with the individual title in the Crazy Croquet as well.
£250 was raised by the event which we will be presenting to Conquest at their Open and Awareness day on 26 September 2015.
The trophy is now at the engravers. If you would like to take part in next year’s event and see the name of your organisation added to the cup then then we’d be delighted to hear from you.
