Our Taunton-based personal injury department has secured yet another compensation settlement for a client involved in a motorcycle accident.
Our client, who we shall refer to simply as ‘Mr A’ for the purposes of confidentiality, was an experienced rider, having ridden motorbikes for the majority of his adult life.
The motorcycle accident occurred when he was in a collision with a truck travelling in the opposite direction. The truck, which was loaded with logs, had indicated left, but then turned right. Mr A simply had no time to react. Fortunately for Mr A he was wearing good quality protective clothing. This minimised his injuries, which while serious, could so easily have been much worse. However, his vehicle was a write off.
Mr A injured his wrists and knees, resulting in the development of carpal tunnel syndrome. He also had multiple rib fractures and a puncture to his lung.
It was only after Mr A had appointed ourselves to deal with his accident claim that a previously undiagnosed dislocation of his left shoulder was identified. This discovery was made by after Taunton lawyer Carly Sylvester arranged for X-rays to be carried out.
As a result of his injuries Mr A was unable to work for six weeks.
Carly submitted a claim and the insurers of the truck responded with an offer of settlement. On Carly’s advice, this offer was rejected by Mr A. Further negotiations then took place, with Mr A eventually reaching an out of court settlement that was considerably higher than the original proposal.
Mr A was delighted with the outcome, and was kind enough to leave the following feedback:
“I highly recommend Slee Blackwell Solicitors and I definitely would use [their] service again.”
