Our accident team recently obtained an admission of liability from the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) after a client’s vehicle was hit by an uninsured driver.
The MIB work in partnership with insurance companies to enable compensation to be paid to people who have been injured by a driver with no insurance. They will also compensate victims of ‘hit and run’ untraced drivers.
The accident occurred in Bitton, Gloucestershire when a car traveling along a side road failed to stop at a junction and collided with our client’s vehicle. The other driver ran away from the scene. Luckily for our client members of the public chased after him and brought him back. The police were called and discovered that the offending driver was uninsured.
Our client’s husband got in touch with us to see if there was anything they could do as his wife had suffered injury in the collision. He feared that because the driver did not have insurance his wife wouldn’t be able to claim compensation. However, after a discussion with one of our specialist injury lawyers it was agreed that we would take the case on and work under a No Win, No Fee arrangement.
We submitted the claim to the MIB. After carrying out their investigations and obtaining the police report the MIB admitted liability on behalf of the uninsured driver. We were then able to go on and negotiate a satisfactory compensation settlement for our client.
